Requirements for Assistance from ALMS HOUSE
 

The Geographical Area Being Served By The ALMS HOUSE

Has Been Reduced To The Following Area:

 

from Raeford Road (401S)        to   Owen Drive

to 301 South/I-95 Business        to   the Robeson County line

to the Hoke County line             to   Camden Road,

crossing over Rockfish Road     to   Lakewood Drive 

to Fisher Road                       to  Strickland Bridge Road, back to Raeford Road.

We do not assist the Grays Creek area.

 

This area is subject to change at the discretion of the Board of Directors.

Clients must provide proof of current address (utility bill must be in client name) all addresses

will be confirmed to be within this geographical area.

Note; Parkton Residents must have children in Cumberland County Schools (referral must be from School Social Worker)

Applicants must provide:

  1)   Picture Identification and social security card for each adult in the home;

  2)   Report of Income from all sources within the home

  3)   Proof of Address - current utility bill - applicant name must be on bill

  4)   First Time Applicants - Must have referral letter from Deptartment

        of Social Services.

You may be asked to bring proof of persons living in household (provided by your food stamp worker.)

 

Referral Required To Receive Assistance For:

  1) Past Due Utilities - Bring the latest bill - (PWC Referral Not Accepted)

  2) 30 Days Past Due Rent - Bring lease agreement and eviction

       notice/notice from landlord;

  3) Prescription Medicine - Non - narcotic only; We will contact pharmacy.

 

The amount of financial assistance will be determined by any previous assistance and/or length of time since last assistance given, as well as funding available. Current regulations require a two-year waiting period between financial assistance. Maximum number of FOUR times allowed for financial assistance.

 

Referrals May Be Obtained From:

Cumberland County Department Of Social Service;

Cumberland County School Social Worker;

Alms House Supporting Church (see list)

 

Referral Required For Food:

Current regulations require a six-month waiting period between assistance with food.

 

For Clothing - Recipients Required Information Must Be On File:

Clothing allowance is determined by the number of persons living in household and can be renewed on a

six-month basis. (Currently 25 pieces of clothing per person.)
